We've had a change of Name!!! Winsome Books has metamorphosed into Bookaholics.

Because the range of books that we are selling is increasing, I felt that it was time to adopt a name that better reflected the nature of the stock. Also, if we ever increase to a size that could justify a shop front, then the name Bookaholics is considered to have broader appeal. There were a few customers who participated in a straw poll in choosing their preferred name, and I thank them for their input Dorothy Shorne.

Beyond Absence
Edward Searl , $26.00, weight 280 grams, PB
Beyond Absence is an inspiring volume on the mystery and meaning of death, and features more than 300 poems, reflections and meditations from many cultures, both ancient and modern. This useful handbook reflects the collator's vast experience in conducting funerals. Searl, a minister for more than 25 years, is also author of 'In Memoriam'.

The Hero
with a Thousand Faces
Joseph Campbell, $30.00, weight 625 grams, PB
Those celebrants who have participated in 'The Journey' with David Oldfield will recognise the hero they discovered in working with David. Despite their infinite variety of incident, setting, and costume, the myths of the world offer only a limited number of responses to the riddle of life. In this best-selling volume, Joseph Campbell presents the composite hero. Through Campbell's eyes, we see numerous protagonists of folklore and religion enacting simultaneously the various phases of their common story. Campbell begins his interpretation of these timeless symbols by examining their relationship to those rediscovered in dreams by depth psychology. The psychological view is then compared with the words of such spiritual leaders as Moses, Jesus, Mohammed, Lao-tse, and the "Old Men" of the Australian tribes. From behind a thousand faces, the single hero emerges, archetype of all myth
.

Competition

Most celebrants these days use a PA System, in the acknowledgement that being heard is so important. Amplification is only part of the issue, and sometimes the use of equipment is not possible. Then the celebrant must rely on their voice alone. The voice is an important tool of trade, and as such it must be used well. Finding you Voice, written by an Australian author outlines the ten steps to successful public speaking. For your chance to win this valuable reference book, send in your hints for dealing with a sore throat when speaking in public. Winning answer will be printed in the next newsletter. Competition closes 31 May 2006.

Sunwyse is about celebrating the sacred Wheel of the Year - the annual seasonal shifts and changes - in Australia. Following the Wheel can be used as a way of developing a greater awareness of the natural cycles that govern life on Earth, and having a lot of fun in the process. Since Europeans came to Australia, most of the festivals have been celebrated according to the Northern hemisphere's calendar and traditions, which often run counter to our own. Sunwyse is about doing it our way; valuing our multicultural heritage but putting it in an Australian context
